Trying to decide between the Diligent Defense Enticer S-Ti and L-Ti for my Tikka T3X Lite .308 20" barrel. This setup is mainly used for hunting whitetail (tree stand, blind, still hunting). I'm leaning towards L-Ti because of the better sound suppression but am wondering if the length/weight would be an issue? I can see why someone would go with the S-Ti if they were backpack hunting in the mountains or something but would the increased length/weight be as much of an issue for hunting in the whitetail woods? Does anyone have experience with either of these for hunting purposes? TIA

I have roughly both. The DD STI and a DA LTI (same specs roughly).

I personally think for hunting I’d want short/light with good enough suppression. I wouldn’t ever hunt with my LTI. It’s a great range can and if I want that extra few db I will put it on.

I don’t think in a hunting environment you’ll notice the difference in sound. You will notice the difference in weight and length off the front of your rifle.

There are probably better (suppression) shorter/lighter cans available currently too.

My first can was an ultra 9 as I wanted max suppression. Found i hardly ever used it other than for a range toy as it was 9" long.

Lots of good smaller and lighter weight cans these days that you will be much more likely to use consistently since you wont feel like you're swinging an I beam around.

I used my dd sti to shoot a couple whitetails last fall. 18” tikka in 6.5 creed, it worked perfectly. My buddy was 250 yds away in a different stand and didn’t hear me shoot. I’m probably getting the lti for that rifle/my son and transferring the sti to a 20” 243 this year for me. You’ll love either of them and wish you’d have bought it sooner.

I have the Lti and had it on a 26", then chopped to 24", then chopped to 20". Zero issues with any lengths when hunting. It's now on a 24" and I see no problems in the future. I use a slik sling with the muzzle forward when hunting. Shooting is a non issue, don't even know it's there.

That’s awesome and great to hear

I can’t imagine you’ll have any issues with the length or weight for whitetail hunting. I need a second can for when my son goes with me. I’m considering getting the lti next because it’s different and should suppress a little better for range days. But it will absolutely be used for hunting too. I don’t have the funds to buy dedicated range cans and I don’t identify as a weight weenie. Ymmv

I have DD LTi on my 7PRC. It has a 24” barrel so overall it’s long but I’ve never felt it was a huge deal or felt I needed the shorter STi.

If someone was building a super compact rifle and that was the goal then go with the STi. Overall I’ve liked the LTi and think it sounds good. Photos are from a mule deer hunt where I carried the rifle a bunch and then a ground blind in Alabama hunting whitetail. For me it’s worked well in both cases.
