The powder Dispenser of my PACT Digital Precision Powder Dispenser I purchased in November of 1996 finally just up and quit doing anything after almost THIRTY YEARS of pretty regular use, Talking at least once a week for the last 20 years at least. Contacted PACT and they replied same day and said they don't make powder dispensers anymore and the best they can do is ship me free replacement parts for a DIMS fix.

Which is still pretty decent considering its a dispenser that is now 29 years 11 months and 2 weeks old.

My question is as I will be reloading for at least another 15 years what is my better choice:
#1- Buy a Herrells manual powder dispenser and stand for about $400 TMD that will last forever with essentially 0.001% chance of any problems or
#2- Spend $350 TMD for a Hornady Auto Charge Pro as it has the largest amount of favorable reviews concerning accuracy, reliability and very high Hornady CS satisfaction with any problems with a Hornady electronic powder dispenser.

I do not shoot competitively with CF rifle and shoot only occasionally to 500-700 yards but I and my sons do shoot A LOT of rifle talking around 1k-1200 rounds a year (of .308w, 450bm, 35rem, 300wm, and 7mmRM) just out of our bolt guns and I am more interested in consistent charge weights than anything else and speed is not a major consideration and I have ALWAYS had my electronic powder dispenser throw charges .3 to .5 grains light and trickled up to my desired charge weight using my 1010 BB scale.

I need to make my decision FAST as I saw at Herrells site they are retiring soon.

I have a Hornady Auto Charge and like it for my Creeds. For my 223, which gets shot a lot more, I use the case-activated powder system from Hornady, and it has been great, dumping thousands and thousands of powder drops.
