I’ve got an iPhone 16 in an otterbox defender case.
I’ve got a vortex razor spotter from 6-7 years ago.
There’s an owl nest behind my house I’d like to photograph.
What’s the cheapest but effective solution to attach my defender case to the spotter.
How do they deal with three lenses on the back of phones now.
When I try to place the phone up to the outlet slowly following the view, it keeps changing lenses on me.
Thanks for helping the idiot take some good shots of owlets.

I use PhoneSkope. The case has an adjustment to basically choose the lens by changing the position.

I did have to take my regular case off, but they make some that are compatible with some brands.

Download the phoneskope app and use that to film. It will select one of the lenses for you. You can also use the MagView app or Pro Movie. Pro Movie is free but has a watermark tag on everything unless you pay $1.

I use Ollin so it requires a different case, but I think MagView allows you to use your current case.

Got the phoneskope app. Friend told me about it as well. It seems to work. Now looking for what to clip the phone to that attaches to the spotter nicely or whatever piece attaches to the spotter. I’m a total newbie at this.

Look at this site for a bit - should work with your case.

I like using the Ollin adapter for digiscoping, but you have to use their specific case.

Are digiscope adapters universal?

I have a Swaro ATX 85mm, and a Samsung android phone. I Googled Digiscope adapters and see that Swaro has em for $200. There's got to be a cheaper option.

My android isn't new and may get a new phone here soon. So I want something that's pretty flexible and universal rather than buying something now and then having to rebuild in a year or so.

I would highly recommend the Scope Cam Adapter Magview 2 fixed. I have almost an identical setup, iPhone 14 Pro, Otterbox Defender, and a Razor spotting scope. I used the double side adhesive to attach the mag plate to the hard case shell, and then cut a corresponding hole through the rubber case. This way I have the full protection of the Otterbox without having to mess with putting an adapter on and off, or changing cases.
