As the title state. Is it just the glass, mechanics or both? Both seem to have zero stops and reticles. My purpose would be upgrading from my diamondback to progress into long range shooting.

It's both.
The PST2 has the old RZR turret system. It also has better glass according to Vortex.

The strike eagle has less glass quality but it has the new locking turret and zero stop. The zero stop is just a shim that snaps in place after you have zeroed your rifle.

My eyes much prefer the PST2. I can see more clearly at further distances. Both tend to suffer in heavy shadows. The internet trend is to say the Strike Eagle has better glass. I will say I kind of like the locking turrets on the SE if you need that feature.

I think the zero stop is a pain on the pst2 and it had to be sent back because the parallax failed other than that it’s performed well. The strike eagle zero stop was easy haven’t had any issues with it to date and has performed well. The SE has a 34mm tube.
