I know some of you have had issues with PD, but besides that does anyone regret buying these? As a part time, unit specific optic are any of you unhappy with them? I fully realize they won’t compare to alphas but that’s not really what I’m looking for. My 10x42 along with a spotter do the majority of my work and would continue to do so, there are just some places, in some units where I think a 15x would be nice to have as an option. If they’re just junk then I would move on to something else but I just need something that would get me by so to speak and for the price these are interesting

Honestly, I wish I had spent more time with them so I could answer your question. As soon as I knew the PD was too small I packed them back up so I didn't risk damage and inability to return.

Buy from a reputable dealer and you can return them would be my advice. I did so at Scheels.

I wasn’t impressed to say the least. Depending on your 10’s and spotter, you’re better off either saving for something else or just running what you have.

I ran them on 1 hunt and sold them shortly after. Seems like glass was always cloudy, and I couldn’t stop focusing them. They hurt more eyes more than anything. I preferred the Vulture over them to be honest.

That being said I loved my Kaibab in 15 and 18. I would hold tight and find a used pair of Kaibab’s. If they’re still a bit out of the budget(happens to all of us) then keep your eyes peeled for the Cronus BTR or Forge in 15x56 as I felt both those options were a step above the DB HD.

Thanks guys. I was a little afraid of that. It’s pretty tempting at 350 but I think the price has me more interested than anything else

Same. Didn't work out.

Might as well become at ease with spending $1000 if you want 15x56 worth having.

That seems to be the case. It was a big enough difference that I was looking into these because it really doesn’t seem like there are good options until you start getting into that zone. I like the maven b5s, I have a friend with a pair but they’re also 4x the cost. I’m not even 100% convinced that I want 15s so it feels like a reach

I was considering getting the diamondback 15x56's, but for the decent price on them I figured it was too good to be true.

I hadn’t, I’m not sure I’ve looked through any athlon actually. Do you like those?
I really really like my Athlon Cronus 15x56. The only thing I have noticed that might not be quite as good as the Alphas is, eye placement is a little finicky, you definitely need to be behind them. Also depth of field, is not what it is on the SLC’s. But they are really really nice. I have not looked through the diamondbacks 15x56 but I can tell you that my 15x Cronus has made it so I cant even look through my kids 10x42 diamondbacks.

I'm not sure how anyone says diamondbacks are even usable.
Maybe my buddy had an extra bad pair but he thought 3 does at like 400 yards were stumps.
He argued and argued till I handed him my sworos.
I'm not saying you have to have the best.
But far as I was concerned he mise well of had a brick hanging from his neck.

Had a similar experience with Diamondbacks and Swaro's. The conversation went something like this . . .

What's that black blob?
You mean that red bush
No, it's a black blob
It's just a red bush dude
No way. It looks like a black bear
Here, look through these
WOOOOAAAHHHH
Yeah

This was during the middle of the day

I picked up the 15x56’s on sale and they are a great deal. I admit the PD would be an issue but you can check it quickly. Mine are nice and clear. I have a pair of the 10x42’s as well and they have been my main pair for at least a decade. I did buy the newer mode when they came out, but only because they were new. My original ones worked fine as well. I know there is a lot of hate for the diamondback 10x42’s but they have worked for me in the mountains of Colorado. I’ve never owned any others, so I can’t compare, but if all you can get are the diamondback’s, they will work just fine.

I'll have to take a hard look at those athlons and maybe see if I can find the diamondbacks in town. Thanks for your input everyone
