Dude, Rick rolls are so lame now with the incredibly aggressive youtube adds. Thanks capitalism.
Also, I'm curious. Never Gonna Give You Up is a completely ridiculous song. The video is ridiculous. Astley's vocals are VERY ridiculous. But I genuinely love the song. Not ironically at all. I think it is a great song. Anyone else?
I'm not sure I'd say I like the song, but there is something that is somewhat charming (?) about it and music from that era similar to this song.

I’m pretty sure this is entrapment. But what the heck why not. I’m not super crazy about NGGYU except as awesome meme material. I am unironically fond of almost anything from ABBA. Except Dancing Queen. Too gay even for me… not that there’s anything wrong with that. Gayness I mean…. UBU.

Hell yeah. ABBA has some great songs. I heard their song Happy New Year for the first time recently - it was in a fascinating radio story about Vietnam. There is a wild history that led to ABBA being like the one and only western band that was allowed to be played there after the war. So ABBA is huge in Vietnam, and Happy New Year is like an unofficial national new year anthem. It's a really good song. Not my favorite ABBA song, but I like it.
I like Dancing Queen. It is pretty gay, but I don't care. There is a lot of great music that is also pretty gay. And I don't care about that either. I'm a fan of Shania Twain's Let's Go Girls too. Again, not my favorite Shania Twain song, but I like it. Who gives a f*ck? Ya know?

You know, I can't stand ABBA, but whenever I hear a song from them I'm reminded of 2 things:
1. Good memories from childhood where dad and mom always blasted ABBA whenever they were painting the house
2. Just because I don't like a certain artist's music (In this case ABBA), I can't deny that some of them really knew how to write songs. Can't really say that for a lot of the music out there right now.

Haha. I think that cuts to the core of it right there. I can appreciate quality music even if it isn't my sound. Which makes my taste change and grow. I like a ton of music these days. When I was a kid, I was really closed-minded about music and kind of a dick about it.
I've also started to become a musician myself recently which adds another dimension to it all - I found myself enjoying jazz the other day and was like "what the f*ck is happening?!?!?!"
