Denver got hit with hail

when moving to where my wife and I are I was under the impression that we would get a lot of crazy weather and so far denevr has had crazy weather. I’m fine with it.

Word of advice. If you come to Denver and rent a car between may and August, just buy the damage waiver. Itll save a big headache and as much hail we get, coupled with the idiots on the road, there’s a good chance you’ll need it.

True that! I got hit two weeks ago by an uninsured driver and learned that's about 25% of vehicles on the road.

Yup
Wife had a loaner car from her insurance company when her car was in the shop for a no fault accident claim.
Hail storm hit our house in the foothills and that POS rental jeep thing got dinged up and we had to pay for the damages….act of god, they said, lol.

Insane hail is the norm, just depends on how big the pebbles get.

We may see some insurance companies pull out of Colorado after this one. My insurance company is NOT going to be happy.
We were just notified Progressive will not renew our homeowners due to wildfire risk. We live in town. Although 2 blocks from the mountain/end of development.

This is happening all over and is going to get worse. These companies are going to pull out of all risk areas and then other companies will start price gouging the "risk" areas. Soon a good portion of the country will only have the option of high risk insurance.

This week we've had a few nasty storms blow by us to the NE thankfully. My 15 year old Sierra insurance went up $90.00 and my wife's ten year old Forrester went up $70.00 for six months with no claims in years. I suppose it's just because I live in CO. It's a big factor in why I haven't bought my "hunting" vehicle yet, can't afford all these increases and home owners insurance is getting stupid too. But I'm very thankful we don't have the tornadoes where I live. Sorry you all got the hail damage up north of us.

Almost moved to Denver about 6ish years ago, I wish I would've, but at the same time when I read this stuff, and witnessed the weather when I was there. I'm glad I didn't. 😂
Rather enjoying having summer/spring weather vs working in almost 80 degree days then waking up to snow on the ground and all you have is shorts for clothes because there was no snow in the forecast.

Drove through that last night on the way back from doing some work in Longmont and there was definitely some very poor driving on display... I mean, if you have your freakin' flashers on and you're going 20 miles per hour, GET OUT OF THE LEFT LANE!
Yep, good old front range drivers. Everywhere you go is a white knuckle experience now, especially with our 'newcomers'. I'm getting out of here next year, either to WY or western NE.

There’s good reason why those of us living on the ‘right side of the divide’ call it “Best Slope”.
But that's only if you're facing south when calling it "right". At this moment I'm on the right side of the divide, until I head out the back door in a couple minutes, then I'll be on the left side.

We have $1000 deductibles on our cars and house, so windshields are always on our own. As for roofs......last year I called USAA to get a quote on home insurance for a house we were looking at. They quoted it and then said "that includes a 2% home value deductible for wind and hail damages". So at that point, we're essentially just paying for total catastrophic house replacement insurance without any hail damage coverage. At some point, I'll cancel and just roll the dice. When I was in middle and high school, we had to replace our roof 3 times in 6 years because of bad hail storms. A few years ago bad storms hit the exact same spots in south Springs two years in a row. Some of those folks had just finished replacing their roofs from the year before, then had to do it again. Lots of folks got dropped by insurance then.

I paid quite a bit more because I refused to do the 2%. It turns out it was the right decision.

You can cancel your insurance if your house is paid off. Not paying insurance for 3 years pays for a roof. The issue is a fire or something catastrophic. I’d probably right wind and hail out of the policy before I’d go no insurance.
