I've had several PMs about a thread on Kuiu's forum. A Kuiu member stated that Aron deletes threads that are not in Aron's favor. Like the one last night on the pack test. That is simply not the truth! I deleted that thread. I know of only three threads that Aron has deleted, two of which where mutual or asked by the sponsor to be pulled down. I have deleted 99% of the threads on Rokslide. I don't have the time to go through and delete each individual that's breaking our forum rules, if there are several people breaking rules I just delete the whole thing. There was no big conspiracy to persuade people away from Kuiu. In fact Kuiu was the most linked to site on Rokslide in 2013!

have had posts pulled in past off several forums, always was po'ed but in retrospect deserved it. has to be a real pain being moderator to a bunch of testosterone laden mugs who post first think later. this is by far the best forum visited by me and am not a bp hunter, but a gear head who cant get enough of it. this will be a bump in the road , part of the learning curve for all........

You guys are doing a great job Ryan. No need to explain yourself. Everyone not sucking on the Kuiu tit knows that those allegations are untrue. We all know that Aron is very unbiased when it comes to gear reviews here on Rokslide, regardless of who he works for.

No need to explain the deletions. I get deleted more than most and I can respect that. Hopefully there will be less pressure to delete threads and posts in the future and Aron will feel free to post more. At one time Aron was everywhere on Rokslide and his voice is missed by me at least.

I definitely agree I value Aaron's input. He has always given me good advice on a variety of gear topics. Honestly I am always quite surprised at how impartial his gear reviews and recommendations are. He calls it straight and often sends you after non Kryptek or Kifaru gear. I visit Rokslide daily because there is a wealth of knowledge on here, and for the most part the threads are positive and constructive. Kudos to the crew!

Exactly right! I'm new here and for the longest time I didn't even realize he worked for Kifaru. If he didn't preface some of his posts with that info, I'm not sure I would ever know. Always there with great advice and recommendations based on experiences he's had with xyz brand of gear. I've never felt he was biased towards any one brand or another; only the ones that work. If I worked for Kifaru, I don't think I could be as modest as Aron. :)

Great site, great info, great guys and gals here! I'm hooked!

Would it be possible to just lock the threads instead of deleting them? Usually there is value to at least part of the thread and just plain out deleting it does at times, with certain threads, give the impression of bias. You could even in the post just make a short comment about why its getting locked. Personally I would delete the rokslide and kuiu thread or at least everything after your first post and lock it that way the information is there but the 8 pages of "noise" would be gone.

Rok staff you guys do a great job. I really hope this activity that's been going on in the last week dies down and we can go back to what rokslide is all about. Aron if ou read this which I'm sure you will, you do a great job telling it how it is but going about it tactfully and well stated. Hope to read more.

X2, its great to get the info from you Ryan on the subject, but the rest is unneeded.

I actually posted you were the one doing the deleting Ryan. Tried to pm you to let you know but your inbox was full.

ah the off season, its been a long one...

X2 this is no joke!

There have been quite a few threads that escalated quickly in the past couple months, we must all be extremely bored (I'm guilty of this myself). Things we would not be nearly as passionate about when we have an outlet for our energy, just get crazy intense this time of year. If my posts or comments get deleted because I'm out of line, its cool but I'd like a heads up saying "hey I deleted your post/comment quit being a douche" or something to that effect just so I know it didn't mess up on my end. :)

Also I agree I'd like to see Aron post more again. I understand letting things blow over but his input is invaluable.

Some people just get a little too worked up, not sure how they survive in real life when they can't even handle an internet forum. Relax, you'll live longer.:)

I don't buy the conflict of interest at all. There are two other partners and Rokslide operates as a stand alone enterprise. There was an obvious conflict in marketing and editorial philosophy though. The desire for complete control of Kuiu's image vs an open and comparative dialog. Aron did not undermine kuiu with his editorial ability in any way and if he had tried the other partners would have put a stop to it. Robbie and Ryans interest and personal integrity would NOT align with attacking a paying sponsor. Rokslide is an incredible platform for competitive companies to market to a very distilled market. It is not a glossy print magazine with paid promotional reviews and a big print ad at the end or sidebar. Rokslide is an open forum on the Internet and it will be as messy as any congregation of people. There will be fanboys and there will be haters. In the end if you have an outstanding product honestly presented you will win here like nowhere else. You come to the open competition and stand then you have real credibility in the market. Kurt came here with his Stone Glacier with much trepidation that he wouldn't get a fair shake but took the chance. His products now have have a respect and credibility that I don't think he could have gotten anywhere else.

I hope there is very little deleting going forward and the philosophy of an open market of ideas is the best market and it will attract the best companies and products.
