The real question is… What is “backcountry”?

If I can’t see my truck (while in timber), have I gone deep enough to be in the “backcountry”?

If the answer is yes, then I’m “runnin” my layering system OTC… DIY… Backcountry. Oh yeah, I’m Ultralight, Backpack huntin now in your honey hole mutha f-ckas.
Had a spot where you hike real high up, you are like 3-4 miles in, but you can see the trail head… heck you can even part of a town…

DIY to me is public land with no guide or local person accompanying. Although advice/direction from a local, or person who previously hunted the area, is allowed under my definition.

It's diy if you carried your moose out yourself, to your truck.

If you relied on a plane, you cheated.

I'm sure a float option was available, shame you didn't allow enough vacation.
The vast majority of Alaska is only accessible by plane. You want him to walk to Alaska from Colorado too?
