With the recent CO incident which was a hard to follow due to how close it hits. I was a bit north of there and ended my hunt early to skip the storms coming in. I read this book back when I was kayaking class 5 and doing MTB endurance races while young and full of courage. 47 now with adult kids and still hunt solo 95% of the time and ride 1000's of miles on my own. Kayaking I never had someone die on a run but have 1 degree of separation from friends who did and I got caught in two bad scenarios myself before I hung it up in my late 20's. Age helps you know it's ok to wait for another day but this booked helped the mental side of learning how bad things happen and how to avoid them.
Outdoors and adrenalin are the best drug there is and most all of us share that feeling
The quick summary is it's not usually the first bad decision you make that gets you but a series of them. Understanding when to punch out vs stay committed and keep a level head.
Stay safe and prayers to those guys family
