Still a bit surprised that after a few years no has come out with a good Deep 6 compatible judo point / small game head. Easton makes a mechanical style head, but they are expensive and from what I've read not very durable.
I'll be going on a Moose hunt here next week in an area with a ton of grouse, so started playing around in my archery box with what I had available. I use Deep 6 Trocar's and Easton Deep 6 field points on my sticks, but still had a pack of standard Muzzy SG-X small game heads laying around.
Good news for anyone running 125gr broadheads is that it is an easy fix to take the cage from the SG-X and crew it on behind a 100gr field point. Weight came out to 126gr. Basically the cage of the SG-X weighs 25gr.

However, I shoot 100gr heads so had to get a little more creative. First attempted to grind 25gr off a field point, which was a bit of pain and resulted in just a small nub of field point. Still might be a viable options, but didn't look good to me. If Easton made a 75gr or even 85gr deep six field point it would be easier.
Next step I took the blades off a trocar (left the screws in), and put that in front of the cage from the SG-X. Not perfect, but comes out to 96gr....which is close enough for Grouse distances. I think you could get it perfect with the right broadhead adapter ring, but I just didn't have any.

Shot these out to 30 yard, with good accuracy. I still think they will do more damage to a grouse than I'd like, but hopefully the cage will save a few arrows from getting buried in the dirt and stumps.
