Looking to buy a decent set of binos for my son’s first “real” set.

His new favorite pastime is meeting me for lunch or right after work to glass the foothills in some good wintering range. He’s actually pretty decent at spending the time to glass up some deer. Gotta get him his own pair of binos and maybe a cheap tripod so we can stop “sharing”. His sharing still is still basically waiting for me to say I see something, then taking the binos for the rest of the time.

would prefer something with a good warranty as I’m sure they’ll be with him for a long time

let me know what you have!

Bought our 13 yo Diamondback 8x42 from Scheels. $220. Should last him for years and quality is ok.

+1 on the Diamondbacks. My first pair of real binos and handed them down to my 7yo last year. Absolutely can’t beat them for the price. Midway currently has them on sale for $129.99. A steal.

Depending on your budget, look around for the Meopta Optika 6 HD. Wife runs them and loves them. Would say they’re a solid 3 steps above DB HD and I would hands down take them over the C1 Maven and Viper HD.

+1 for the DBs. My first real binos and then handed them off to the kids.
