December $487 prefit group buy, several barrels are a go

Would anyone else be interested in either a 6-284 or 6mm Rem AI? Something to maximize a 6mm with a std bolt face.

Yeah I need another 6-284 pipe. I was a real A-hole to my last one and killed it in short order. Emailed PBB a while back asking about their reamer specs but never got a response. I throated my last one for 115 bergers but the 105-108 stuff is where that case really shines.

I have been intrigued by the 6-284 for a little while and have been considering building one. I don’t really need the speed of the 6 PRC or UM and I don’t want another creedmoor just because I want something different. The 6-284 with 108s looks to be a nice sweet spot

Don’t imagine it’s hard to kill one. When I pick one up, I’ll get it broke in and load developed then unscrew it and save it for hunts where I think I’ll need the extra juice.

My 338-284 on the other hand will probably live forever despite the fact it’s one of my favorites to shoot.

.338-284 sounds awesome, especially in a Tikka action!

It was my first one so I did a lot of data collecting with different powders and bullets...you know for science and all. Its also REALLY fun to shoot so those 10 and 12 round shot strings can sneak up on a guy haha 🤦‍♂️

How many people are needed to lock
In a 6-284? I have an action with a nitrided fluted std bolt which I was going to do a 6CM, but with the new TMK I want something higher speed but still in an 18” fluted barrel.

We’ll have to check that out in the next group sale.

SAC vice or the new Buffalo Creek vice with an Brownells outside action wrench and it pops right off. Even old stuck barrels.

I reached out Buffalo and he was saying I may need separate bushings for the tikka factory barrel and a different bushing for the PB hybrid lite.

Have you been using just the tikka factory barrel bushings for the factory and PB barrels?

The SAC tikka bushing (shown in the video) fits tikka factory and PBB hybrid light.

The tapers are the same for the bushing. It is that the PBB hybrid contour stops tapering to accommodate 5/8 threads.

Would these need to be run LA? Assuming running 108-117 grain projectiles.
105-108gr range you could go SA but for the heavies you'd want a LA. My last one i had throated for 115 bergers. Pics are of measurement to the lands with a 115 berger, what my loaded length was, and then my 108 eldm load.

I'd be curious on PBB's reamer spec for the 6x284. Are they throated for 87gr vmax? Also neck diameter. A loaded round in lapua 6.5x284 is .272 if I remember correctly. Most reamer prints I've seen show .276 which is perfect. Anything under that you may need to neck turn and that crap is for the birds. Maybe @hereinaz could do some investigative research for us?

Hey, .223 AI buyers.

223 AI reamer has .062" of freebore

We can change throat to the specs you want.
I dont quite understand freebore enough to know the answer. Id like to shoot 80-88s in mine. Someone else that ordered one can chime in
