for 223 ai, 18” barrel. Loaded long. Middle of the road pressures should be close to:
80: 2800
88: 2725
Take it with a healthy grain of salt. 88’s have proved very temperamental for most people trying to reload them. It will likely hit that velocity, but no guaranty that the groups will be tight enough to use. The 80’s and 75’s eldm have been very consistent and easy to load for in the barrel I got from LS with the 223 wylde throat. That’s impressive… with the 88’s at 2725, it keeps above 1800 fps out to nearly 800 yards at 7800’ elevation 30 degrees. Here I was thinking I wanted to put together a 6cm/243 to shoot 95’s….

No fireforming with the 30⁰.Whats the advantage of UM 30 vs 40?
For my own education/knowledge - are there other chamber/throat specs for the 6.5 prc?
I asked a few questions on here about going it and wanted to because I liked Barnes LRX’s but I’d check on from someone more knowledgeable than me because I think you’re gonna run into COAL issues in a Tikka action. If it feeds in the action then you’ll 100% need a longer mag if it’ll fit.For the guys doing 223 ai, I'm curious why not just go 22 ARC? I know theres +/- $100 in bolt work, but then you get better everything else save barrel life.
Also, no one else wants to try 300 super wsm?!?

You’re running your numbers off an 18” barrels estimated velocity. The benefit of the 223 ai is you can go shorter while preserving velocity. Thanks for the heads up. Running the numbers on 80 at 2800, that puts it past 700 with 1800 fps. The wind bracket isn’t as good and it doesn’t lineup with quick drop too well. Still very tempting though…

I bet if you run your QD calcs for a 16” barrel you’d be spot on.
It’s a good discussion, and I think for this buy the 16” 223ai is a compelling length.Great point… 2700 with the 80’s make QD nearly percent. Problem is the guys on here don’t want a 16”. An 18” AI with airlock nano would be the same OAL as my 16” 223 with raptor 8 so I was ok with taking the 16” for the 18” but maybe we can talk guys into a 16” 223AI with 7 twist
Side note, have you heard 80’s requiring different bullet profile (BC/velcoity) at different ranges like 300-800 vs 800+? I can’t remover the numbers/garages but believe B_Reynolds_AK made mention of it?

This…Depends on bullet, muzzle velocity, and density altitude. But roughly way the fook yards past where people should be shooting at animals.

We have enough 18” orders already, so if there are enough to buy 16” I will do that too. It’s a good discussion, and I think for this buy the 16” 223ai is a compelling length.
But I feel bad clogging @hereinaz order spec thread.
I’ll send you a pm with what I’ve seen for BC out of my 223 and 22 creed.
It should fit and run in the UM bottom metal and magazines. Barnes load data has a col of 3.475" and the internal of the UM mag is 3.54".I asked a few questions on here about going it and wanted to because I liked Barnes LRX’s but I’d check on from someone more knowledgeable than me because I think you’re gonna run into COAL issues in a Tikka action. I would be in for the 257 Roberts in a 7.5 twist as well. Throated for the longer bullets available in regular or AI chambering. Hopefully some other people are interested or I’m going to have to get the 25 creedmoor.A very long shot, but I’m going to try anyway:
$487 for a Tikka Hybrid Lite contour threaded 5/8 x 24.
SPECIFICATIONS
Cartridge-.338 Federal
Throat- whatever Is normal
Length-20”
Twist-10 or 12
Or
$487 for a Tikka Hybrid Lite contour threaded 5/8 x 24.
SPECIFICATIONS
Cartridge- .358 Win
Throat- whatever is normal
Length-20”
Twist- 12 or 14
Or
$487 for a Tikka Hybrid Lite contour threaded 5/8 x 24.
SPECIFICATIONS
Cartridge-.257 Roberts (regular or AI)
Throat- whatever is normal
Length-20”
Twist-1:7, 1.7.5, 1.8 (I want to be able to use 100-130gr bullets)
I’d also be fine paying for fluted and/or not threaded in any of these.
Sorry if I’m breaking the rules by putting in options. Trying to be flexible.
I don't see the 22 GT option on the pre-order page. I want to order my 25 Creedmoor and 22 GT at the same time. See if you can get it added tomorrow. Thanks!I will add the 22 GT.

I have a 257 Roberts Improved on an old Remington 722 action that is a reamed original 257 Roberts rifle. I'd love to have one in a fast twist barrel instead of a 10 twist but I already got the 25 Creedmoor buy started and it is less fuss to shoot heavy bullets due to factory ammo with heavies available to buy.Anyone besides @Mberline and @onlybrowning want a 257 Robert’s of some flavor?
