What’s the distance you are going to shoot? Without that info, I’d probably say 6cm because that’s what I chose and I was considering both as well.

Last one I shot was 403 , so range would average 10 yds - 600 maybe. I used the 6.5 PRC one that one.

Which one would you guys choose? I can't make my mind up.
What’s your criteria for the decision? Is it based only on caliber?

Lighter rifle?
Reduced recoil?
Maximum range?
Maximum tissue damage?
Cool factor using the 6 cm?
Cool factor using a magnum?
Which rifle do you shoot better?

What’s your fears?

6 cm not enough gun?
6.5 prc too much gun?
Bad shooting?

I wouldn’t care either way, I would shoot the one I had the most confidence in.

Whichever one YOU want to use. It confounds me when guys get in a conundrum as what caliber to use on a cow elk hunt, as in you need something different than for a bull. What kills one will easily kill the other, elk are elk, but this is the internet, so carry on.

100% agree.

6CM. More enjoyable to shoot, more accurate to shoot as a shooter.

Plus, you'll be able to get to 600 easily with eld-m/x without a hassle.

Could do what I'm planning on doing and just say balls to the wall and get a 6arc. 😂

No fear of either one. Own both and killed with both. Just trying to get a consensus on what guys are using. Bull or cow only put cow because that’s what I drew.

6mm is definitely not the consensus choice anywhere but within the small portion of Rokslide who accept the concept of small calibers.

At best, you’ll get a mix here. Any other forum the consensus 6.5 PRC is the minimum…

Do 6cm, it’s reasonable and logical. If you know it’s enough why go bigger? Unless you want to go for pleasure or be able to take the hard quartering away punch through the paunch on the COAL (cow of a lifetime) hahaha.

True 6.5 PRC can increase the effectiveness of marginal shots by a small measure.

I have no problem with 6mm for elk, but the cost/benefit shootability calculation for minimum calibers has me at 25 short mag, which is kinda between the two, because I may have to shoot beyond 600.

I don’t have a hunting 6cm, but if I did I would use it in your hunt.

Flip a coin. It doesn’t matter.
This^

I voted for the 6.5 just because that's the rifle I have setup for mountain hunts. Just pick the one you shoot better or the one you have more fun with. If everything else is equal pick the one that looks cooler for Instagram pics lol.

Edit: For me if longer shots are possible I'd pick the one that's shooting the higher BC projectiles well.
