In my mind if you put them on well used public land, you are risking theft.

When I used to trap, I'd kind of feel lucky if my traps didn't disappear. Trapping public land in Montana.

People suck, it is a fact of life.

You are absolutely correct but this one was the last I ever expected to be taken. Obscure spot far from an open road or trail

Never had any problems. 3 stolen this year. It’s usually one POS that ruins it for everyone. I’m glad I don’t know who took em. I would most likely be in jail if so. The good Lord will take care of it

Most definitely a risk. Probably worth securing with a cable if you want to continue utilizing one on public. No doubt someone could still steal it but maybe they would have less opportunity with it locked up. Good luck with finding your thieves!
