Day Six Evo

I’ve decided to make the switch from iron wills to day six. I’ve shot the iron wills for the past 4-5 years and they’ve done great but I’m tired of dealing with the rust. Plus, day six are quite a bit cheaper. Trying to decide between the evo and the evo x. My two main concerns with the x are accuracy & penetration compared to the regular. Will not shoot over 40 yards (all my deer have been under 30). How will the x penetrate compared to the regular through shoulder or bone?

I don't think you will hardly notice a difference in penetration between the 2 at your specs.


Tuning, the EvoX isn't as forgiving as the regular Evo, even down to the 1/2 versus 3/4" bleeders.

With your arrow weight and DL, I suspect it's not a high speed setup so you really might not have much issue between them.


Personally, I like a bigger cut, so I have been carrying EvoX.

I average about 261fps. I didn’t have a problem with the iron wills which are the same as the regular evo but thinking Id like the wider cut. How much harder are they tune?

If your bow is in tune, you won't notice a difference.


At your speed, it should be really easy to get most any head to fly, assuming adequate fletching. Faster, the less forgiving it's going to be to imperfect flight. Less surface area is less picky, so smaller heads and bigger vents make them more forgiving. But I'm not crazy about small cut fixed heads, or vents because of noise.

I was able to get the D6 EvoX to shoot well in excess of 300 fps.
