There's some really good, quality daypacks out there in the $40 to $60 range. I actually picked up a pretty darn good one (new) for $20.

MR Pop Up 28 if you're looking for a compact dedicated day pack with the ability to haul meat occasionally.

If you need something a bit larger to pack more layers for late season, and also more comfort hauling larger meat loads, a Guide Light MT frame with a Pintler or Sawtooth 45 bag is hard to beat. Still serves as a good day pack, with the added ability to stay out a few nights.

The pintler and pop up are pretty cheap options and still offer a load shelf for packing meat out.

I absolutely love my Exo K2 2000. The K3 1800 might still be up for the seconds sale but the system is awesome.
