Day pack capable of packing meat...EXO?

I believe its a 3400 pack.
But what it can do is double in size should you want to and it can become a 7000 pack with ease.

This makes it a pack that is your go to day pack, as well as 5-7 dayer.
Meat shelf included to haul ALL your meat out. Not just a first load.
I hauled a bull elk with mine last year4 trips total- it can haul serious payload. Yet compresses so tight in day pack mode.

3,500 cubic inches is pretty tiny (lol).

The 3500 from EXO is actually a 4800ci pack. 3500 is only the main bag compartment.

Yeah, that's what I was saying; 3,500 cubic inches is pretty darn tiny. I couldn't imagine trying to do anything with something that little.

How much stuff are you carrying? I carried a 3500 for a couple of years and rarely filled the main bag. Now I have a 5500 and a 2000, and rarely ever put the 5500 bag on unless I'm doing week plus trips. Only reason i went with a 5500 this time was for winter gear, and the weight and price penalty was negligible.

I typically carry a 7,500 cubic inch pack every day. I even sometimes shoot with that on my back (lol). I'm a guide, so I like having a pack big enough to carry everything I need for a full day of hunting in rough, remote country.

Meaning it is capable of hauling an entire animal, it probably could haul all of it at once, but I sure can't LOL

To be even more specific: Some day packs can haul out the first Qtr, but it leaves you wanting to leave it with the vehicle and get a different pack to finish the job. The Tahr is that first load and every load. lol

No, I just carry my stuff. I tell my clients to bring at least a 4,500 cubic inch pack, so that they can carry their junk.

Obviously people have their own ways and preferences with no absolute right or wrong. My preferred daypack (with meat carrying capabilities) is a Mystery Ranch Pintler. The main bag capacity is only 2500 cubes which isn't going to carry a big bag of meat inside. BUT, I don't carry meat in the main pack bag. I use the Overload Shelf and can put a bigger bag of meat in there than I want to carry. I have a bloodproof tapered meat carry bag that I use for that task which keeps my pack clean and the load compressed. With this system a guy can use a very handy-sized pack for all-day hunting, yet have big load capabilities when needed. I was a tad skeptical until I used it to pack a moose out solo and that proved it to me unequivocally.

I was making that same decision last year. I went with the Kifaru 26" tactical frame and Woodsman pack. I have been very happy. Carried it all over the mountain last year and it worked great even through the dark timber. I have not tried any of the other ones mentioned, and I am happy enough with the Kifaru Woodsman that I doubt I will try any of the other packs.

As far as the pack I don't think you are making a bad choice with the 3500 but when I had my 3500 there was a few times on longer trips that I wished I had the 5500 and like mentioned before they both compress to being basically flat. I sold my EXO setup to get a Kifaru frame since the shoulder straps are individually adjustable and my shoulders are different heights so the EXO would dig into my shoulder on one side. I now have a 24" tactical frame with the woodman and the Native if I need more room and a couple belt pouches so I can get this set up to 6000ci.

Customer service with Exo is excellent. I called Steve Speck a few days ago asking about getting some spare straps and buckles for my Exo and he sent them to me today free of charge. I offered to pay twice and he told me not to worry about it. I have dealt with him buying Eberlestock packs through S&S Archery in the past and always been pleased. One time there was a very understandable mistake on an order and they went above and beyond to make it right. I bought my Kowa 55mm spotter through S&S and they shipped it 2nd day air when they finally received them so that I'd have it for my muley scouting trip this summer. I bought my Exo 2000 and later a 3500 bag from Exo also and then Steve took care of me on the extra buckles and straps I wanted today. Great people to do business with. I know lots of companies in the outdoor industry take great care of their customers and these guys need to be ranked right up there with the best.

If you are hunting from the truck with the idea of wanting to POSSIBLY do an overnighter here and there as you originally said, you might consider the 2000 bag. I think as a day hunter you will prefer it's size and layout over the 3500. Plus it's capacity is greater than 2000 cubic inches. A 2000 will hold all my stuff for a week with the exception of my food which can go in the load shelf. I see no reason one wouldn't be able to pull off a 5-7 days with a 2000 bag.

The reason l like the 3500 for most day hunts is the optics pockets down the sides. When not taking a tripod and spotter.i like the 2000. The 2000 has plenty of capacity the layout of the 3500 just seems handier.
