Darned my sweater

Snagged my sleeve on some scrub oak and tore a big hole in one of my favorite sweaters. Decided to darn the hole to prevent the hole from getting worse. I had never darned anything before but it turned out to be pretty easy; it just took a long time. This style of darning is called a Swiss darn and is supposed to mimic a knitted structure. There are easier methods if you need a faster fix. After this repair I can see why my mother hated darning anything, but it would have been a shame to trash the sweater just because it got a hole in it.

I darned a hole in a first lite sweater once. With some wear and a few washes I really had to look for it. I don’t think yours will disappear to that degree ;)

Nice! My favorite wool sweater developed holes in the elbows for some reason. I sewed on some leather patches that I made, and now a few years later I'm hooked on making leather stuff.
