Okay, so it looks like everyone is pretty much on the fence regarding these socks, so I guess I'll just go out on a limb and purchase a pair :) Or maybe I'll just dump my sock drawer in the trash and restock it with DT's.

Thanks guys for all your input.

If I could afford to replace every sock I own with DT's I would . For now the 3 pairs I own get a lot of use.

The Air Force has come along way then. I had to fight to get anything when I got deployed in 2003, good to hear. I think my extreme cold weather boots and jacket were from the 80's

Mine are all the Hike/Trek Micro Crew Cushion I really like them, may try a little heavier pair for when it really gets cold.

Barney's in Anchorage has a pretty good selection and the prices are pretty darn close to what you can get on the net. Allows you to "touch & Feel" a few different models if you so desire. I really like my DTs, but the First Lite socks are pretty decent as well.

You must do a fair amount of foot traveling. I have a few pair ready to go back with the worn out heel as well. Shipping worn out socks back to the manufacturer hasnt been on the top of my to do list but I will get around to it.

just everyday wear & tear...pretty much the only socks I wear. my feet sweat a lot & they are the best socks I've found for dealing with that. just wish they'd find a better way to make the heels a bit more durable, or maybe my heels are abnormal
