darn tough cool max vs. merino

Heres the deal. Won auction for three pair of merino micros on ebay. Came today and are the cool max not merino. Never mind could return or fight the guy . Has anyone wore the cool max and merinos and compare them?? Have contacted seller, waiting on reply, probably not till next week. If they are decent, which I suspect they are being darn tough, may just raise hell but keep them in the end.

I just humped 9 miles with 45 lbs in the cool max full cushion socks in 95 degree heat, and they worked great.

Called dt cs today with this very question and the response was the cool max do get funky tho not as bad as regular cotten or cotton blend. Said to stick with merino if this was a main reason for wearing darn tough product. Am going to try these cool max just for giggles and see how they perform, they really look great.
