Couple of big Brooks Range rams
I have guided for over 30 Dall rams, but I have never shot one for myself. I have guided for 2 that were 39.5", but have yet to break the 40" barrier. This giant-bodied, one-horned ram was aged at 17 years! Apparently about 5 years before my hunter shot him, he must have fallen down a mountain, or somehow ripped his horn off and broke off his horn post. I have to imagine that he was in an incredible amount of pain for a few years until his horn grew back over the post. I would guess that this ram was about 270 pounds live weight. I would say it was at least 50 pounds bigger than the average ram. He had one tooth in his lower jaw, and it was nothing but a stump below the gum line.
The other was 39.5".
There is nothing quite like sheep hunting!!!
