Looking at replacing a marlin 10/22. It was destroyed which really sucks bc my grandfather got it for me when I was a kid. My dad decided he wanted to get me something so I said a new 10/22. Well, they don’t exist.

Second between these two for great accuracy shooting variants and maybe doing some shooting competitions. Would probably be a stock conception. Not really wanting to turn this into a semi custom any time soon. And honestly, I’d probably buy another .22 and do mods to it. If it’s a gift from my dad then I will want to leave it be.

Anyone have experience with either gun? Any differences between 16” and 20” barrels?

Tikka has a threaded barrel which would be fun to add a can but isn’t a deal breaker.

I have a tikka 270 and love it. But the wood stock on the cz is pretty dang nice!

Thanks for any feedback!!!

Sorry for the typos. For some reason I can edit. Should have proof read before hitting send. Doofus

Ruger makes bunches of 10/22’s every day. A lot of Marlins out there, confused about which model you’re talking about. But to answer your question, get a CZ…. Joe

Just bought a cz457 American 17hmr shoots 5 shots into .80 at 107 yards. Absolutely awesome My 10/22 struggles at that distance under 1”.

I wasn’t impressed with my t1x. It was accurate but it fed horribly, the magazines suck and it rusted constantly.

Marlin 10/22. They are not in production at this time

I have both. Probably 20-30k rounds through my Tikka and 10-20k through my MTR.

Tikka:
I never had any issues with a single mag, as stated by others. But there are feeding issues with the mag well. A little tinkering can get it going, but ya gotta put in the time to do it - it’s a rather frustrating process.
Accuracy and consistency are both excellent for a factory rifle. A buddy and I went to the Lapua test center - him with his Vudoo, me with my Vudoo and my Tikka. The Tikka printed the best groups - and it wasn’t close. I have since rebarreled my Vudoo and it now performs slightly better than the Tikka.
Not much for aftermarket accessories.
Super lightweight.
Warranty service was responsive, simple, and fast.

CZ 457 MTR:
Accuracy and consistency were also very desirable for a factory rifle. Only issue with it is the first round with a cold bore comes out hot (about 50 fps faster than the others) enough to throw the first round off target (not a big deal for benchrest with sighters, but definitely not ideal for NRL22 or PRS). Everyone I know with an MTR had the same issue.
No issues with feeding, which is cool. But certain parts don’t last quite as long as some of the custom rifles. Extractors, for example, may only last 10-20k rounds. Not a big deal, except that CZ is constantly out of stock on them.
Aftermarket support is huge - including barrels, which are incredibly easy to swap.
Warranty service was a joke. After about two months they sent it back and said “that’s within spec, but the rifle is heavily modified, so the warranty is void.” 1” groups at 50 yards is what they call “in spec” and drilling holes in the stock to install an Arca rail is what they call “heavily modified”.

Bottom line, both are great rifles, but you take the bad with the good. Just depends what your priorities are and your primary purpose.

For what it’s worth, a factory T1x has won multiple NRL22X National championships
