Just bought a CZ 457 MTR, does anyone here shoot CZ? I am wondering what ammo is preferred and if there are any other upgrades or tips from the braintrust here. I am new to rimfire but excited about it!

I was also thinking the S2H ZeroTrace 3-18x scope with the RMG-H reticle may be a good choice as the spec sheet says that parallax adjusts down to 10 yards. Does anyone have an opinion on this scope for a rimfire or a better suggestion?

Thank you!

For bulk, I really like the scheels 1902 count 40gr standard velocity.
It groups about as well as yellow box Eley out of my 457.
It also cycles my 22 handgun reliably. Very clean burning

I’ll go put some 20 shot groups and chrono data together and get back to you.
20” CZ457 MTR
10x SWFA
50yds prone, off bags.
20 round groups

Sorry I forgot my chrono at home today. But when I’ve chronograohed both loads in the past in my 20” barrel they were pretty much at box velocity.

Conclusion, I need to shift zero to the left.
The Eley is just a bit better group.
The Scheels special is significantly cheaper, and plenty good enough for me.

You guys rock, thank you. Any scope recommendation, no idea what to use so will probably just get on the list for the S2H 3-18x unless someone has a reason not to.

I have 6 CZ 457, not all 22 LR though, and have been around a few more. For sure the best thing to do is try different ammo in yours. But some of the best shooting for the money is Norma Tac. And a bit up in price Lapua Center X is pretty hard to beat. Scopes will depend on your use. I have SWFA, NF SHV, & NF NX8 on 3 of my target rimfires. I have a couple S2H scopes coming, but they are for cent. fire guns. As they get easier to get, I will put one on a rimfire.

I am running an Arken EPL on my cz457 in 17HMR. Price is right and it dials well enough for first round hits at 330 yards. If it ever loses zero it is a lot of fun to sight back in.
