Any idea how long are they kept out there? Do they follow similar protocols like trappers, meaning checking on the trap every 24 hours for example?Yep, old, successfully used tool in a broader government trapper toolkit. 100% okay with it.

Thank you! There's a 1 month limit on how long they're allowed to be in-place, with weekly inspections and detailed documentation on exactly where they're placed, and when removed. There are also strict limitations on how close they can be to buildings, roads, etc, along with signage requirements to be in-place.

Spun his hat around....gotta follow those safety guidelines!Years ago they were used around here, had to be 3/4 mile from a residence, I think heck maybe more.
A usda trapper was living on one of the farms, he had a bad day where one of the tablets went off, projectiled at his face, hit his hat bill. I don't know how much he followed true protocol, but he was able to get to his antidote within about 15 seconds. He was pretty messed up for several days.
After that anytime he was around it, he spun his hat around.
They were using them as sets, and neck collars in extreme instances at the time.
I think they fell out of practice 20 years ago here, but I still have some of the signage somewhere that they are in use.
