Cyanide use for predator control

Any idea how long are they kept out there? Do they follow similar protocols like trappers, meaning checking on the trap every 24 hours for example?

There's a 1 month limit on how long they're allowed to be in-place, with weekly inspections and detailed documentation on exactly where they're placed, and when removed. There are also strict limitations on how close they can be to buildings, roads, etc, along with signage requirements to be in-place.

Thank you!

The fact that it is potentially lethal for someone's pets is nonsense. It is an unnecessary risk.

I don't see a need or an upside that can't be mitigated with regular traps or thermals or aircraft .

Years ago they were used around here, had to be 3/4 mile from a residence, I think heck maybe more.

A usda trapper was living on one of the farms, he had a bad day where one of the tablets went off, projectiled at his face, hit his hat bill. I don't know how much he followed true protocol, but he was able to get to his antidote within about 15 seconds. He was pretty messed up for several days.

After that anytime he was around it, he spun his hat around.

They were using them as sets, and neck collars in extreme instances at the time.

I think they fell out of practice 20 years ago here, but I still have some of the signage somewhere that they are in use.

What is the benefit of these traps opposed to other management techniques?

The one landowner I know who poisoned coyotes on his property in a similar manner wound up killing so much shit unintentionally. Everything that fed on the poisoned carcasses died of poisoning/that continued till I assume it finally got diluted enough, etc.

They have been using this for a very long time to control predators . It’s only recently thou that it’s blown up and “this administration “ is so bad

Do you have a website link or guidance on where one might look to find the information you posted?
