Do you seriously think that if a treatment or cure for Alzheimers, CJD and scrapies in sheep had been discovered that it would be announced by a deer hunting group in Pennsylvania?

They have known about "Sprioplama" since the early 70's.

Not discounting the guys theory's, I haven't pulled and looked at any of the papers. What is said in the aritcle I read is plausible. Makes me very skeptical though when a blatantly false statement is made. It isn't a "previously unknown bacteria."

On one hand, I have to wonder how/why this research has not been utilized further at this point (he has been dealing with the bacterium for a few years). That tells me there is more to this story.

On the other hand, there are numerous instances where the collective scientific community has been wrong about something and it took an outlier/"rebel" to find the truth. Just because "everyone" thinks something is true does not make it true.

They have been studying this for many years and these prion related diseases have proven to be very difficult to nail down partially because they have such a long incubation period...a cure? We shall see.

You have to understand how the scientific community woks to understand some of this stuff. You need money to do research, someone has to pay for it. That money comes in the form of Federal Grant money. You have to apply for grant funding. Your grant proposal goes to a "panel of experts" that decide if you get funding or not.

That panel of experts is made up of leading researchers in the field. In the case of CWD virtually all of these people are going to be heavily involved in prion research. They may not necessarily want to upset their apple cart with new discoveries. They could simply deny any funding to the guy to prevent his research.

This type of thing happens all the time with grant funding. There are a ton of politics involved in this stuff.

If he is, he deserves a Nobel prize for all the other prion disease treatments this may unlock

This is exactly where the funding for research comes from. Grants plus some private donations.

He didn’t say this is how you MAKE money from scientific research- just that it’s how researchers get money to FUND research projects.

I know first hand that this is how it works.

Dr Frank Bastion has been publishing about a Sprioplama and TSE link since the 90s.

None of his research has been duplicated and much of it seems easily disprovable.
