The older I get the more intrigued I am with interesting rifles, so I bought one. I have a few swamp stands that are 50-100 yards, and the compactness should come in handy. It slings a heavier pill at roughly the same speed as a 30-30. Now here's my question: I'm a huge Trijicon fan and think that the 3-9X40 Accupoint would match up nicely. I want a lightweight scope that has above average glass as well as decent low light capabilities. No LVPO since most have a 24mm objective lens which doesn't do very well in low light. Any recommendations that may be a better option than the Accupoint?

I have a Burris thermal scope but that's the extent of my Burris knowledge. Ill check it out....thank you.
Don’t get me wrong I love my trijicons, I own a mess of them, that is just a very reasonably priced simple scope if you wanted something that’s like 1/4 the cost of an accupoint

Trijicon Huron 3-9. Minimum of a couple hundred bucks cheaper than the Accu-Point, same reliability.

If low light is a priority, perhaps consider a 2.5-10x56 scope rather than a 3-9x40? Or a fixed 6x or 8x x56. Trijicon has some, but also S&B and others. The ones I know of arent cheap, but wouldnt leave any low light performance on the table.

If it were me I probably put a 2-7 or 2.5-10 on it. I have a Burris 2.5-10x42 on my tikka 30-06 and I have a red field 2-7x33 on my ruger American 7.62x39. I’ve come to realize I don’t need or want a a lot of zoom on a cartridge or rifle I’m not shooting past 100yds. I actually want less magnification most of the time. I’ve played with 1.5-5 scopes as well and they work well.

I went with the Burris on the 30-06 because I was trying keep weight down and it weighs 11.2oz. I’ve used Burris , redfeild, Konus and vortex over my short time as an adult and have no complaints. I tend to lean towards Burris and vortex these days.

A fixed S&B with a 56mm objective.
You can get an older steel one on ebay for not much.

Thanks for the input folks. I've owned 2 fixed scopes by meopta and S&B. Fine scopes but not my cup of tea. I'm afraid if i went 3-9 accupoint I would regret not going ahead and getting the 2.5-10X56. I just bought my 4th one!. The low light prowess trumps the extra 7 ounces imo.

The new Burris Fullfield illuminated models look pretty nice, and the 2-8x35 would fit this rifle nicely.

The 1.75-5x has held up to my 45/70 single shot. It's been used in 40* rain, snow and hasn't been babied. Not made in China is a plus.

Debating on grabbing one for a 270 that usually is shooting deer sub 80yds but I do also occasionally stretch that gun out so I may go with something like a 3-15 swfa. Something about a trim 270 with a low power scope seems novel for north east deer hunts though

I put this little vortex 3x sight on mine in 350 legend. I quite like it. I think its a spitfire or strike fire or something?

Bumping this thread to ask OP how he's liking his CVA Scout.

Mine is the SS TD model. I have toyed with buying another, the newer sort of grey-finished model with the better stock. Was wondering how the OP liked his.

To be honest, I haven't had much time for hunting/shooting lately. When my schedule gets open, the rain comes! I've also recently picked up a Rossi 30-30 and a Timberline 308 so I've got some new toys to play with over the Holidays.

Ive got one in 350 legend that has been my favorite carry rifle. The short action makes the overall package very short and handy. I got it due to local laws, but I am thinking of getting one in 243 for coyotes and plinking.
