CVA Cascade experiences?

I had the chance to shoot a CVA Cascade recently and was impressed. Trigger was all right. No feeding trouble at all, and I liked the flush magazine. That being said, it’s still a budget option so I’m wondering if there are some issues with it.

Anyone here have experiences with the Cascade rifle that they could share?

I know a guy that had a CVA in 300wm that would shoot when safety was manipulated or action was closed. It was pretty sketchy. Otherwise that's all I know of when it comes to CVA.

I bought one this past fall in a 350 legend for IL deer and I’ve been happy with it. The “quality” offerings in 350 are non existent and this gun checked the most boxes from cerakote, threaded and good feedback. Mines as accurate as you can hope for in a straight wall.

The only negative I have is my 2 piece pic rails def are not true. Idk if it’s the receiver drilling being off of the pic mounts themselves. But it’s def noticeable on my rear section. I got my gun level perfectly and that back ring was never level with the gun but the front was. Step behind the gun and you can actually see it too.

I was in a hurry to get the gun going for deer season so I didn’t bother trying to resolve it knowing this was only a 200 yard gun and it’s been fine. But I’d check on it before you buy. I assume mine was just a lemon.

I took a quick look at the website. Those 2 position non-locking safeties kinda chilled me.

My Daughters has magizine issues. They reported they had an issue and would send us a new one when they had a fix for the issue. The new magazine is worse. Never again will i buy a rifle brand that walmrt sells. Zero reliability. Missed animals, due to loading issues. Buyer be ware

I have a CVA Cascade in 30-06. Its been a very reliable rifle. Comfortable to shoot, great trigger, feeds excellent, shoots sub MOA consistently. The stock is light weight, stiff and comfortable. My only critiques are, the action was a little sticky when it was fresh out of the box. I think it could benefit from polishing the bolt better than factory. And, I wish it came with a full picatinny rail (which I installed) I've owned it for a little over a year and I have probably shot 120 rounds through it. I would have no problem purchasing another one or recommending one to somebody.

The only "issue" I had was the trigger adjuster screw was so loose it almost fell out. I put a little loc-tite on it and set it to where I wanted it.

This is a pretty accurate review of the CVA Cascade..

My sons was the same way. Sold it and bought him a tikka. The CVA experiment was a total failure.

A buddy had one a while back. The stock design made it kick way more than it should have in 308. He shot my son's Tikka 6.5CM and dumped it for a Tikka 6.5 CM. LOL.

That is interesting. I haven't shot a Tikka in 30-06 (only 300WSM which kicked quite a bit more), so I don't have a direct comparison, but I do own a Savage 110 Storm in 308. My 30-06 kicks a little more than my my Savage, which is to be expected, but its fairly similar. The 30-06 is very comfortable to shoot. They both weigh 8 lbs scoped up. I have no issues putting 20 rounds or more through it. I would imagine a Tikka 30-06 would kick a little harder since it weighs a little less. The CVA crushzone recoil pad was kinda stiff IMO so I replaced it with a limbsaver.

I'm no CVA fanboy... I just read/watched good reviews on them so I gave it a try. I just liked how it felt when I held it in the store. Its been a very reliable rifle.

Well I just ordered one in .223 Rem. It will be a few weeks before I can report back. $100 off from BassPro so made an inexpensive gun even less so. I’m not sure if I’ll be hand loading for this one but it would be nice to be able to feed it 5.56 rounds in an emergency.

That was the same deal with mine. It was at Cabelas and was $150 off the regular price. It has the strada camo instead of the veil on the stock so maybe that was why..? With the sale price, a gift card and cabela rewards points, that rifle didn’t cost me very much.
