Cutting Weight on a Sig Cross

Get the barrel diameter turned down and fluted.
It will be your largest savings.
16'' barrels can be as low as 1lb 4 oz.

To be clear, I am NOT the maker of this product. I am working with someone that is making it.

The first few are done and testing is going on at an accelerated pace. There were a few small changes made to make it stronger, just in case. This will not change the release date of approximately end of May.

There have been zero issues with it thus far. I do not know pricing. Weight is 6.8 ounces with no original stock pieces added (can be used like that). 12.5 ounces as shown. OEM is over 17 ounces without folder.

The maker is Made Rifle/Made X Pro. He makes a few parts for the Cross and has more on the way.

I am going to do a video soonish at their request as a sneak peek. I will post that here as well.

This is obviously for the folks that are not, or are never, happy with OEM or the quality/lack of quality in some of the Sig parts but still love the rifle.

Thats all we have right now. He has this pic posted on FB in one of the Sig Cross groups so here it is.

I see it's listed at 13.4" shortest lop with sig butt pad, that's unfortunately longer than I want.

I noticed that you can now buy the 11" Sig Cross Trax handguard. I assume it's lighter than the original but I don't know if it will fit on a standard Cross. Has anyone tried this?

I have been looking into this as well and confirmed with Sig that you can use the Trax handguard. I'm curious if you went ahead and bought it? I'd actually prefer to purchase a sawtooth handguard but they don't sell those individually.

I haven't pulled the trigger on this, I just bought a Seekins Element so my itch for a lightweight option has been scratched. Keeping an eye on this to see what others do though.

Congrats! That looks like a really nice rifle. I stayed away from that based on price but as I continue to look into spending more money on the cross I may regret that.

I think Made X Pro offers a lighter stock.

The Cross isn't Tikka light for sure. But it's definitely a great gun when you have a bunch of kids and a wife that can all shoot it on the fly. Just a quick lop adjustment and my 8 year old can shoot it.

If you're counting the weight of the bipod, then look at the BLK LBL handguard. It weighs 6 ounces more than the stock handguard but it has a pretty decent bipod built-in. I have this, an 18" Proof barrel, Leupold Mark 4 4.5-18X and a SiCo suppressor and it comes in a t 10.5 including a sling.

I am looking to get a 8.6 Blackout (12.5 inch) barrel for my Sig Cross, but I am thinking the suppressor will not begin to fit inside the handguard. Are there any Suppressor Friendly handguards for the Sig Cross that anyone has seen?

The cross action is pretty light compared to most, it's possible with some diy mods to get it as lightweight as the lightest rifles on the market. Especially if you were to have the chunky barrel fluted or turned down.

Here is my sig cross with the factory 18" 6.5cm barrel, bare rifle weighs about 5lbs 6oz. With my factory 308win barrel it is about 5lbs 2oz.

FYI, the 18" cross barrel is a tad over 44oz... I've got an 18" fluted barrel (profile similar to a tikka) on a rem700 build that only weighs 24-25oz... so there is a lot of weight that can be lost from the barrel alone.

In this configuration, i can swap barrels without removing the scope or rail.

As shown: trijicon credo 2.5-15x42, NF Ultralight 30mm low rings, scope caps, ZG6.5 suppressor, mdt 3rd mag, mdt carbon grip.

My diy stock does not fold, but is "quick detatch" so I can remove it and reinstall nearly as quickly as operating the stiff folder mechanism... with the added bonus of having no play or slop between the stock and the action like these cross rifles are known for.
