I shot a caribou a few years ago and was rushing to get it field dressed and packed out before dark. While hurrying to separate the knee joints I sliced my knuckle on pinky finger. No first aid kit, I wrapped it with surveyor's tape till I got to a gas station a few hours down the road where I could wash it well and apply some bandaids. I thought it was good till the next day when my knuckle started turning colors and it was warm to touch and swollen. Ended up with a few stitches and a regiment of antibiotics.

Other than that I have had knicks and small cuts that were never a problem.

Friends father died of Crutzfeld- Jacob believed to have contracted from butchering sheep with Scrapie. Occupational hazard for neurosurgeons. Always in my mind when removing the head. Always clean knives and saws with bleach. Previously have posted about brucellosis. Can read about transmission of bovine tb in michigan deer herds from feeding sites. All good reasons to wear gloves and eye protection.
