Not sure if this is the correct forum for this question. But wonder if folks have experience/advice for mounting spotting scope to odd objects. I have a window mount which is fine for truck window spotting but I want something to mount, say the the hood of truck for quick set up to digiscope along some roads where wildlife can be filmed when said wildlife are on the opposite side of truck I.e. hop out and get to digiscoping quickly and more quickly than switching form a window mount to a tripod.

It is not always simple or effective to whip the truck around to my drivers window is facing the right direction, so thinking of ways to quick mount my spotter to 'something' on m y truck that would in essence have the same functionality as a window mount or that would (optimally) allow me to quickly use the window mount on this new thingamajig I am asking about, that some folks may have already figured out.

What ya got, Rsliders?

Thinking a window mount sort of operation buy mounted to outside of truck, maybe the lip of the hood that in my case has a decent flat lip the right (small) clamp could grab that also has something sticking up for my window mount to then attach to.

Thanks in advance for your ideas/solutions.

Its not what youre asking but i have started carrying my small tripod and i just jump out the truck and put the tripod on the hood all splayed out and low or throw it in the bed and sort of lean over the bedside akwardly to use it. Key is having a tripod that is at the right height when its not extended so you just pull out the legs and clip in. Window mount stays on the window, spotter unclips and moves to tripod which is stowed next to the shifter on the passenger side when im solo.

Mag base or suction cup base sounds like a good idea if speedy set up is what youre after. Guys use them in car racing to mount go pros at 100+mph. Just have it all set up with a video head so you can clip right in.

I had a board about 12” square with three little rubber feet and a short vertical board somewhat in the middle that I’d clamp the window mount to when at the range. Now everything is on Arca so instead of that arrangement I have a ball mount in the middle of an aluminum plate with three rubber feet.

For something specific and not glassing just throw the spotter on a sandbag.

Was going to say just mount head of your choice on an old speaker magnet with a thin stick on cork layer to protect your paint. Could have a short post or not.
