Current Favorite Hunting Bullet per Cartridge

I have shot Partitions in everything for quite a spell as a hunting bullet. When used strictly to confirm zero and hunting, a box of 50 might last years, so I don’t consider them expensive in the grand scheme of things.

Ballistic tips or interlock bullets are my normal practice loads.

Currently:
5.56 for varmints: 55 gr Sierra HP
.243 Win: 85 gr Sierra Gameking
.308s: 165 gr Sierra HP Gamekings, 130 gr Barnes TTSX, and 175 gr Sierra Matchkings for targets
.300 Win Mag (elk- 180 gr AB)
.45-70: 300 gr Hammers

For the 6.5 PRC in my future with the 6.5 Airlock gravity: 125 gr CE Lazers i got recently with the Black Friday sale; and probably 156 gr Bergers

And after i eventually run out of gamekings, i'll get some TMKs for the .308s

6.5 cm 143 eldx
308 150 grain ballistic tips
223 55 grain pointed soft point in several different rifles
300 blackout 150 grain fusions
30-06 150 grain winchester power points are what is in the rifle at the moment.

I'm picking up an encore with 25-06 and 22-250 barrels this week, hopefully, so we'll see what they like.

223 - 53gr VMAX
243 - 100gr SGK
6.5CM - 129gr ABLR
280 AI - 160gr CX, will likely go to the 162 ELD-X for next year
30-06 - 130gr TTSX
338 WM - 225 TTSX, will likely go to 225gr AB

Most recent decade of bullets that killed for me:
308 16” 168 fgmm.
270 22” 14? Hornady ELD-X
300wm 26” 190 SMK.

The match rounds had 2 different outcomes.
168 fgmm Blew a huge exit out of a quartered away deer. Like a softball exited its chest.

190 SMK 2 rounds about 2” apart double lunged. Clean pass through on both. Entry and exit holes could only stick a finger in. Gutless dressed it so don’t get a look at the lungs. Glad I double lunged it though. Almost puts third on it but it stopped and started swaying.

270 ELD-X has killed a lot for me. Great accurate round. Even for an old paddle stock Ruger.

Going to experiment with 7BC this upcoming season.

Things I've actually used to harvest big game and love:

30-06 or 308 - 150 or 165 AccuBonds. Runner up 165 or 168 Nosler Ballistic tips in 308, and 180 BTs in the 06.

Tikka 7x57 - 175 ELD-X, because it's crazy accurate in that gun (3/4 MOA) and Accubonds are not (1.5 MOA). Early testing with the 162 ELD-X looks to shoot even better (first 10 rounds into 0.65 MOA, dam!), will try those next year.

Note: 140 Accubonds were my fav in my old Savage 7x57, and to be fair, I prefer their on game performance to the ELD-X.

303 British - Winchester Power Points (killed more big game with that bullet than any other except Accubonds).

Things I own but have never personally shot a big game animal with, but would without hesitation:

45/70 - plain old 300 grain Interlock HPs.

338-06 - 180 AccuBonds

223/5.56 - 55 grain Hornady SP w/c.

25-06/257 weatherby- 90gr absolute hammer
6mm Remington- 95 Berger classic hunter
22-250-53 vmax on woodchucks
