With all the debate going on about artificial intelligence, what is ur take and concern. Elon Musk, Steve Wozniak , and over 1000 others are calling for a six month moratorium on development of AI. A brain named,Eliezer Yudkowsky said that does not go far enough. He would go further, implementing a moratorium on new large AI learning models that is, indefinite and worldwide. He is concerned that AI will some day control everything and at some point find humans far below their intelligence and are no longer needed. I say, just unplug the damn things.

I do some moonlight work on the side for a tech company that just fired its entire marketing team, 35 people, and is letting AI run with the marketing. The suspicion amongst the contractor employees (with a discord channel the company doesn’t have access to), is that they are using us for AI modeling to eventually let the entire company operate with just a handful of people in oversight positions.

On a side note, I had to do a business presentation this morning and I lacked the motivation to put anything together so I had AI write it for me last night and totally presented it this morning

I think this one goes way over most people’s heads. The little I know is that we’re getting into some very serious s***, with lots of implications. Just another reason to unplug and go hunting. Following…
Yup, way above my pay grade.

From what I understand, which is admittedly little, it is pretty scary. It seems to just be mining information that is on the internet already and compiling some form as an answer. Whoever controls the flow of information will control the results.

Seems like some 1984 type of rewriting history is bound to take place.

If people thought information was weaponized in the past...

If people who really know are sounding the alarms I am willing to hear them out.

First thing, AI scares the hell out of me. Problem with "the world" moratorium is China doesn't care. They aren't going to stop. Every day we don't work on it, they will. Of all of the crazy end of the world scenarios, I think the Terminator is one that is the most believable.

I don't have a defensible opinion one way or the other at the moment.
My gut feeling is to listen to the guys that are saying its a big deal. My gut feeling is also that there isn't an organization/government that is both honest enough and actually capable enough to stop whats coming. They can try to stop it all they want, but when that type of power is at stake someone is still going to go after it.

It’s a good idea, their concerns are beyond valid. I hope they take it further because nobody knows the implications. Especially right now in the current world environment.

All AI needs to become completely and absolutely politically neutral as well, for starters.

I listened to an interview with a man several years ago and the young female reporter asked him what he thought would be the downfall of humankind. He responded that he didn't understand where she was going with her question. She replied, you know, like global warming or overpopulation. He answered and said that he might have headed in those directions earlier, but he wasn't worried about either of them now. She asked what worried him now and he said, artificial intelligence and quantum computing.

I clicked on this thread because I thought it was a discussion about ackley improved rifle cartridges, found out it was about artificial intelligence and turned right back around
I was wondering why there was a debate about Accuracy International? I guess I need to stop looking at guns, hunting and outdoors stuff so much and start paying attention to the news.
