I drew a late season (Second week of November) mule deer rifle tag here in Washington.
The unit has a max elevation of 6400' and the entire unit is designated wilderness area.
I have never hunted late season mule deer but I am pretty familiar with this unit prior to drawing this tag.
Here is my scout plan so far:
I plan to scout for terrain and not for deer as I am sure this will be a very weather dependent hunt. From my research the week I plan to hunt can have anywhere from 0' of snow to 2' or 3' of snow. In my scouting I am trying to find areas that hold does or I think the does may go in November. I have scouted the lower terrain I wasn't as familiar with already and plan on going to 2 other areas.
Any suggestions for scouting or things I am missing?
As far as my hunt plan so for:
I plan on starting as high as possible (the Brady Miller tactic) and work my way down until I am finding does and deer.
That's it, that's my whole plan. Thoughts?
