Yeah, their not cheap. I got lucky and picked mine up for $400. I use the heck out of it. One bad thing is you kind of need a place for it as they are heavy beasts, I'm guessing mine weighs in at close to 100 lbs. My buddy has a Cabelas version that seems to do well, don't know what model though. And it is movable by a single human.
Amazon is your friend. that's where I got mine several years back. Only about $125. They have them from $65 and up. Real nice one for home use for $300.

I have a Cuisinart that I got with the idea of slicing fruit/veg or meat for jerky. It worked great for a while, but now I cant only run it for a couple minutes at a time before there's a god-awful grinding sound that comes from the gears. So I'd probably steer clear.
Crispy, but not burned. Cook it over medium flame and that won't happen, plus there is very little splatter.
I always do prime rib for Christmas. This year one of my daughters asked if we could have steaks instead because she doesn't like her meat "raw".......LOL. I told her "You know the rules". But then told her she could tend her own steak after I pull the rest of them if she wants, but I won't cook one past medium rare.
I call that spot wiggly.
