That looks great, but I'm seeing them used for $1k. Are there any other less expensive options out there that anyone would recommend?
Yeah, their not cheap. I got lucky and picked mine up for $400. I use the heck out of it. One bad thing is you kind of need a place for it as they are heavy beasts, I'm guessing mine weighs in at close to 100 lbs. My buddy has a Cabelas version that seems to do well, don't know what model though. And it is movable by a single human.

Amazon is your friend. that's where I got mine several years back. Only about $125. They have them from $65 and up. Real nice one for home use for $300.

LEM slicers look the same as the Globe. Sign up for notifications, watch and wait for the bigger discounts or for a refurb to come up. That's how I got mine at a good price (refurb).

I have a Cuisinart that I got with the idea of slicing fruit/veg or meat for jerky. It worked great for a while, but now I cant only run it for a couple minutes at a time before there's a god-awful grinding sound that comes from the gears. So I'd probably steer clear.

2 active threads about bacon. You can tell hunting season is officially over.
