I couldn't locate a nice thread to slide this in but here's the life of one pair of Thor II's:
Purchased: 2/10/24...and worn daily at work...just average driving and walking around
Trained Hard: 3/3-4/28…44lbs pack 1-2 miles per night in addition to being work during day...last week of this window was long days at Shoot2Hunt University and bear hunting.
Daily Use: 4/29-7/22: average driving and walking around, some light trail hiking here and there.
Trained Hard: 7/23-10/30...44lbs pack 1-2 miles per night in addition to work...last week of this window was long days moose hunting.
Daily Use: 10/31-11/24: back to average driving and walking around, went back to night hiking but without heavy pack.
Maintenance:
- new insoles…Super Feet Support...mid March
- new laces and more insoles in early October...paracord and new Super Feet Support
Notes:
- the factory laces broke within a week of each other
- point of no return was the loop failing that holds the laces just below the lace up points above the ankle
- I was ready to trash them anyway as the left foot was uncomfortable in the metatarsal area
I figure I got about 600 easy miles out of them and 300 hard miles out of them.
I'm currently wearing a brand new pair. I got a head's up on here for the sale at Midway, thanks guys.
I'll pick up another pair when they go on sale to stash for when the current pair goes.
I think these are a great boot and really enjoy them.
If anyone has a pair of 10.5's they don't like I'd gladly take them and stash them as the back up.
The only negative I can think of is that the factory soles lasted hardly a month. I think its well known here that the factory soles aren't satisfactory but I find this quite lame. Pun intended.
Loop intact:
Busted Loop:
I'm pretty sure this is cosmetic damage because it has been progressive and didn't cause any issues:
Soles are just "OK":
