Creedmoor for Brown Bear Hunt

You had me at dude!!! Yea and you wouldn’t have ether with what ever CM you’re using. You would have 💩 your pants just like this “dude”more like clown did. The punch line blew over your head, the purpose of posting the video was for educational purposes we aren’t dealing with little old Bambi, you can shoot with a kids cartridge and it runs 25 yards and falls over. When you’re hunting dangerous stuff that will kill you, bring the correct cartridge and know how to shoot it.
This clown in the video shouldn’t even be hunting and isn’t worthy of taken a Lions life.
You've posted 2 videos of the "correct" cartridge not working.

We'll never know how id (or anyone) would react in that situation until we are in it. But I guarantee I would've watched my bullet hit and had another on the way forthwith. I also wouldn't be super stressed about a 300-400 yard shot either, much calmer then up close. If gritty homo managed to follow it with a spotter Im pretty sure I could've kept it in the scope 🤣

Your the man !!!!

Stuff like this seems interesting because the laws self filter some.

If a guide isn’t gonna allow it, and you have to have a guide, well…

So it really leaves Alaska natives to be the ones that we are asking I guess. I remember a guy causing a fuss on reddit about hunting polar bears with a 243 all his life

I’ll never hunt that hunt, but it’s interesting to think about. I believe I remember seeing Alaska fish and wildlife recommending 270 and 30-06

ADF&G will also let you hunt bison with a bow with 50lb draw weight, but if you use a gun, it’s required to have a 175gr bullet with 2800ft/lbs of energy at the muzzle, so I would take their recommendations with a grain of salt.

A lot of animals have lost their lives to a 270win and 30-06 Springfield with a metal or plastic butt plate no argument there. But that’s when men were real men like Jack O’Conner a dying breed.

Both @luke moffat and @bearcreekbandit (Tyler Freel) would beg to differ with a number of the posts in this thread.

The Op was referring to Kodiak or AK peninsula brown bear, big difference between a 500 lb interior grizzly and a 1000 Kodiak or Brown bear pretty sure you know that. It’s pretty obvious a 6.5 will kill anything in the world but is it idea ? It wouldn’t be in my top 20 but that’s me. Carry what you will, it’s a free country in our 50 states for now.
God bless America 🇺🇸
Salute our veterans 🫡🇺🇸

Been a while since someone set a good, old fashioned Fudd trap on here....there used to be a few every week. Then they got savvy and call-shy. (Or they all went out and actually killed stuff with tiny bullets and saw that it's not just kool-aid)

Anywhoooo, well done, OP! You're patience paid off. 😁

And using a 6.5 with a guy backing them up with a 375 which is a HUNTING rifle and not a STOPPING rifle isn't any different.

I'm pretty sure that if even you're hunting with a .375, someone with a .375 or bigger is still backing you up.

Phil Shoemaker is literally probably the greatest living brown bear guide and he's fine with people shooting a .270 with 150gr Partitions. He also says that a 30-06 with 180's or 200's is more than enough for the biggest of bears and tends to shoot completely through them on broadside shots. He's also killed a charging brown with a 9mm S&W and Buffalo Bore hard cast ammo. So there's that.
It wasn’t a charge. It was standing broadside and he kept plugging it with the 9mm as it stood over his clients. He tells the story on a podcast with Ron Spomer. They were fishing.

When hunting, Phil backs his clients up with a 458 win mag.

Inuit have historically used 22-250 on polar bears.

Animals die because they bleed to death internally after projectiles hit vital organs. This isn’t a power thing.

If I’m bringing a weapon only for protection and expecting a run in, it’s a reliable short barreled AR15 running 77tmk. If I’m bouncing a rifle to actively hunt, any of the Creeds or 6.5 PRC is pretty good.

I've just seen multiple statements lately from 22 cal to 6.5 being adequate/ethical etc for anything In North America. Just was wondering if those ones making that statement are actually grabbing their 22-250, 6mm etc when going after big browns. Not trying to argue over weather it's possible/ethical etc. Was hoping some that made the statement would chime in. @glock233 was one of them. Thanks for the response, that's all I was wondering. For myself, I'd prefer to have at least a 270 or 30-06 or something a little bigger that I can shoot well. The little bullets can obviously kill stuff very well but where are guys drawing the line and stepping up to something bigger?
