Ok I have a quick question. I want to use my credit card to get points when applying for tags. I am then going to pay it completely off and wait for them to refund my money.

My question is. When my money is refunded how do I get it back in my bank account? Do I call and have them send me a check? Or will they transfer it back to my bank? I just don't want to put all that money on a cc and then have to spend it bc I can't get the money back in my account

New Mexico puts it back on the card after you would already had to pay the balance. You end up with a credit amount on the card a couple months later.

Yes so my question is.. How do you get that balance back in your bank account

Why would you want the cash back In your bank. I usually keep charging items on the credit card I use for my tags. So if I don't get drawn I have a credit applied towards my purchases and don't need to send a payment that month.

With most credit card companies you call them and request a refund from your card overage and they will send it to you in about a week, I have never had a issue with it, to my knowledge the only state that does this is new mexico all the others that give refunds for not drawing send refund checks.

Broad question and every state a little different.

I only apply by debit card and seems I always get a refund check in all the states I apply in that require tag money.

I don't use credit cards- too tempting to buy really expensive stuff I don't need :).

I used to take out a new card every 18 months or so -- and cancel the old one when it was time -- so I could take advantage of the 0% interest for 18 months. I usually would get 2 seasons out of this. I'd pay $100 or so each month just to whittle it down and then wait for the refund checks and pay it down at that time. Seemed to work well. I heard other people say this wasn't good for your credit score but it's never affected mine. Just another option for the tag game...
