It's better if you go to this link: https://vimeo.com/69845377 and fullscreen it and make sure the HD icon is clicked on the video on lower right. Best view of his frame is from 6-11 seconds. Video was shot about 9:15 PM at 2.1 miles (NOT 3 miles as I mention) away through a vortex viper HD 65mm spotter... didn't even realized how big he was till I got home and uploaded the video.

What do you think?

He looks like a good buck.

I had trouble getting a real good look at him. That setups performs pretty well though in low light from such a distance.

Unfortunately it seems that video quality suffers a slight bit after uploading but yeah you gotta play it a few times on full screen to really get a decent idea of him.

I played around with the brightness on my the monitor and that helped a bit as well.

Good thinking I'll try that! Since I posted a crappy video of a big buck, I figured I'd throw up a decent video of more smaller bucks! :) This was at 1.2 miles away.

Thanks for sharing!
What is a good way to judge those distances? Topo software on your GPS, and scroll to their approx location on the topo map?
Thanks.

I used Google earth once I got home. Like I said in the first video I thought it was 3 miles but was only 2.1....

What is you camera/adapter setup If I may ask? Looks good man, most of the bucks Ive been seeing don't seem to be well developed yet... Or perhaps Im only finding the little guys still! lol

My spotter is a Vortex Viper HD 65mm.
Camera is a Cannon Powershot 100HS using a Tines Up adapter. I actually bought the camera/adapter as a digiscoping kit from Tines Up. Only thing I don't like about the camera is every time it shuts off you have to reset the delayed timer for still shots and video. Other than that been very happy with it! I take a lot of short video journal entries when I'm on my trips, think it'll be cool one day to just compile them on a DVD and look back at all the crazy times I've had.
