Volunteers can keep one cow carcass.
when is it?
Why? The goal is to kill an elk, not impress people around you. Most people would not taking an unsupported shot at 200 yards in the field, why do it in qualifications. The qual is pretty easy but will still drop alot of people. They should have made the 200 yard requirement to be standing/kneeling unsupported and not standing/kneeling supported. Where was this when I spent my 6 years stationed at Ft Carson.
He would’ve worked that line like a drill sgt.I’d be more interested in being a spectator at the qualification! Especially after watching the video of the guy showing how it worked. He seemed so patient and willing to help those that need it.
If anyone needs help on the line, then they aren't qualified to even approach the line. Next! I'm wondering if anyone shot free hand. I've never shot an elk with a rifle that wasn't shot free hand, and I've shot a bunch of them. I even shot one while on the back of a horse. But ya, I would have liked to see the qualification shooting. They said on the news last night that a lot of people were failing.I’d be more interested in being a spectator at the qualification! Especially after watching the video of the guy showing how it worked. He seemed so patient and willing to help those that need it.
Check your emails…. Just got my invitation to qualify for this year. Signed up last year
I’ll see you thereI got one last night and scheduled the 6th I think.
I haven't decided if I'm going. I looked through old emails and searched the googles to see what the parameters were as far as what meat can be kept, dates to hunt, etc. I couldn't find it and intended to call the office today but didn't have time.I’ll see you there
I watched the explanation part of the video just out of curiosity.
Shooting test is 3 hits on a 12x14" steel oval shaped target. You can shoot standing or kneeling at 200, sitting or prone at 300. You can use sticks, tripod, or whatever rest you'd use in the field.
A cow elk can be kept, they won’t tell you the dates until enough qualify…I haven't decided if I'm going.
