Cow Elk Tag – 38 Miles, 4 Days, One Perfect Shot

Solo hunt, 2nd rifle season, central Idaho. Covered 38 miles total with 2,400 ft gain daily. Finally spotted a small herd in thick aspens at 230 yards. One 165 gr Fusion through both lungs — she dropped after 30 yards.
Packed out in two trips, 6.5 hours total. Gear MVP: Stone Glacier Xcurve frame.
Worse part? My freeze-dried meal leaked inside the kill bag. Still worth it.
