anyone have any information on how the covid situation has impacted the hunting applications from out of state hunters in Montana this year?

I can only suspect that there will be an increased number of non-residents applying for partial refunds (80 or 50%) if the Covid situation gets worse or even if it stays about the same. Take for example here in NY - if one travels to MT to hunt, they are expected to "self quarantine" for 14 days upon return - not everyone can take an extra 2 weeks off from work. This may result in more surplus licenses becoming available.... we will see..

Mt never sold outvuntil trump got market rocking. Sold out last year and this year. From what I can see, the kung flu hasn't affected applications. Still a ing list

Hmm, that’s a new one to me. I guess people should stop blaming hunting forums and tv host for point creep/# of applications and start blaming it on someone else...

I drew a Missouri River Breaks tag a few years earlier than I "should" have. I originally assumed it was due to COVID and fewer applications with people just buying points instead but it doesn't seem like the applications have been down.

The other points about tags getting turned back in will interesting to follow.

Recon theres always someone, somewhere to blame for something. Seems like rest of states are just catching up to montana price wise. Montana locked in the price when went to new system. Now montana price is low. Or will be directly. Meaning more are going to apply. Which, means more and more won't get drawn.

I have not heard of one state where draw odds have gotten better. I think a lot has to due with timing. The virus thing hit right when or right near when most draws were due so people already had them in or still planned on going. Besides having my personal Canadian Moose hunt canceled I do not know one person that has changed plans this fall...in fact I know a few including myself that will spend more time on hunts considering now I am working mostly remotely and have internet in my truck.
