Taking so long?? It seems as though it just started, and it's already half over! Kids start school in one month! Summer always flies by, while winter just creeps along.

I have to agree. I love hunting season but with my daughters growing up so fast I never wish summer away. Ones already grown and gone, really makes me realize I only have a limited number of summers with my little girls. There will be the same hunting seasons for the rest of my life

Good post. Puts priorities in perspective.

I love hunting season but don't want to rush through summer with my son to get to it. I hate summer but my little guy loves the river so it definitely makes dealing with the heat easier and worth it.

52 Days until we start here in MT. I'm in the middle/beginning of remodeling a house we closed on 2 weeks ago. Moving in by end of this month and will still have a lot of work to do. My prep for the season is almost nonrxistent. I need more hours in the day. However........the remodel will be put on hold in September

The AB fall back plan! Well played, and best of luck.

It's for my old stomping grounds. Know the area inside out. Gonna be good to be back and see some country where fond memories were made.

I hope so. I know a spike or tiny 3 point is gonna taunt me until I have no choice but murder him. All I know for sure is that I'm gonna have an awesome time, that's for sure

Aug 30 headed to Colorado to try for my first elk feels like Im running out of time. I gotta keep running, lifting and sling some more arrows and we just bought a new house the 12th so I'll come off a 12 day hunt and get to move. Kinda a double edge sword but still can't wait. Good luck everyone!

Seems like a lot of you are going over the early season, leave Sep 13th and will not head home till after the last day even if I tag out early. I agree this summer is going way too fast, kid #2 will be here any day (feels like we just found out still) and it was over a month ago that I was in CO fishing and scouting, seems like just last week. Before we know it elk season will be over.

Congrats on the new house, we closed on our new house 5 days after I got home from my hunt last year, then it was a month straight of remodeling before we moved in.

Starting about 3 weeks later than usual - flying in around Sept 7/8 for sheep, griz, prob take a caribou tag just in case... :) Won't be doing our annual Sept 1 mule deer pack trip, but might look around the Monashees for an early season bear the beginning of Sept.

One thing about doing your sheep/griz trip at that time, i'm guessing it'll be pretty quiet. Most guys are gearing up for the Sept 10 rifle opener down south. Good luck.

I used to be a "I can't wait for season" all year long kind of guy...4 kids later I never wish for tomorrow.
Late Sept Elk for me...and nowadays I'm more like "I could use more time for preparing"
...once I'm taking kids (and hopefully wife someday) with me to Elk camp - that will be heaven on earth!

Buster,

Thanks. :) Hoping it will be quiet, there are only 2 other people going into that area that I know of and that is for the sheep opener. I hate bumping into people on fly in trips. lol
