Cots for truck camping

Any recommendations for a sub $100 cot for handful of camping trips per year? GF isn't a huge fan of sleeping on the ground in the floorless shelter and wants a cot. I searched the forums and its mostly WTB or FS threads...

Cabelas sells a cot for around $60 or at least they used to. You can also get some at Walmart for less than that. They are Ozark Trail branded but work just fine for most people.

I use this style when truck camping. 6ft long fits right in the 6-ft bed of my Tacoma. I like it because it's lower profile and I can actually sit up in it without hitting my head on my canopy.

I slept on my Helinox cot in the back of my Tacoma for six months during the 2016 summer. I don’t know how much it cost as it was given to me, but I’m sure you’ll get what you pay for. You could build on out of lumber, 2x4s and plywood.

Check out Cabela's. I bought two of their cots last year for truck/base camping. I think I paid something like $60-70 each. Pretty comfortable but always use a decent sleeping pad.

Get the Cabelas Outfitter cot.
There quality and a happy medium for size.
30" wide.
The smaller ones work but are a little to small and the xxl are super comfortable but just take up to much room most of the time.

if your sleeping in the truck bed a matress out of a pop up camper works great, if your gear is halfway clean I just throw the matress in first (it's about 4" thick) and load the rest of my gear on top.

These don’t fold up as well as the military style cots but they are ridiculously comfortable.

I keep mine setup in the basement room we use as a storm shelter, and will take naps on it sometimes lol.

I bought the Disc-o-beds XL bunk bed cots at Costco a few years back. They were pricey but super comfy and great for wall tent or truck camping. Used em multiple times. Only issue is they are too long for back of my truck when setup.

+1 for cabelas, Though the Walmart fpgrade one is cheaper but not as sturdy. I picked up 3x military cots for $30 each. They work fine too.

keep in mind that if it is cold, she will still need some insulation under her to be comfortable. Cheap foam works fine. Bring a nice pillow for bonus points.

I have some of the x-frame cots, but found this one for around $40. Put my insulated, self-inflating pad on top, and used a quilt for covers. Slept like a baby. It is flat, and does not make noise like the x-frames do.


Biggest problem is that it is bulky to store.

These work great, the springs really help and if you need em today you can buy em at Walmart.
