I cant find a thread that gives a good answer to the question of what size cooler I should have for a boned out caribou. I plan to freeze the meat and then put it in a cooler for the flight home. I have seen anywhere from 48qt to 100qt mentioned. If you actually put a boned out caribou in a cooler what size would you say I need?

A mature Mt Caribou bull is typically heavier than a Barren Ground and quite a bit heavier than a Central Canada Barren Ground Caribou.....around 150# of meat if you take the "dog scraps". I'm talking about taking every bit of anything that is red.

A yeti hopper and a cheap backpack cooler I picked up at Walmart worked for me and kept me from paying baggage fees. Used them as my carry on and personal item. Stayed frozen solid from Alaska to North Carolina. A bit of Tetris to get all the frozen meat in there but it worked well. Fish boxes worked well for my friends. I think we had 2 115-125ish qt coolers for traveling down the haul road we put 4 caribou in those 2 coolers.
