For anyone interested, EuroOptic is running a sale on Tikkas - Link Here
ctr magazines might be another option working good in tikka if needed.Anyone here have recommendations for replacing the plastic OEM magazines with something made out of metal. I am sure the OEM magazines work just fine, but I want to get at least one metal magazine. I've already ordered the PR Precision stainless steel bottom metal. I have been looking at aftermarket magazines from Beretta, Mountain Tactical, and HCA. Any recommendations between those? Or another manufacturer?
I know MDT makes a few different chassis's for the tikka.
That's a grorgeous rifle. What sort of accuracy/speed are you getting with H4350?
Sorry about the leg. In the real world, those are *INCREDIBLY* good groups for a factory rifle. We truly live in the good old days of gunmaking.I posted up some of the factory groups in a couple of other threads, but might as well post them here too. My groups would be better if I was more disciplined about letting mirage dissipate
Have you thought at all about 280ai? That's where my brain immediately goes for a '06 family cartridge.I am thinking about getting a new barrel for my tikka 270. I looked at the 6.5 x 55 and 25-06. It seems like most things I read about those two calibers said a longer barrel is preferred to take advantage of the slower burning powder.
I felt the same way, until I tried out the 100gr Barnes ttsx at 3150fps (22" barrel). It made one of the nastiest wounds I've ever seen on a whitetail. I aimed high shoulder and hit a bit low. It almost severed both front legs, took front side of the heart off as well.I just recently purchased a T3X in 308. Best move on my part, It is a forgotten round along with the 7mm08. All these CM/PRC are just a way for sales to go up.
Recoil in both calibers are very manageable and the availability of bullet weights make it ideal and more versatile . I shot several deer with the CM and the performance was not what i was looking for. Great shooter fast and flat, but better on paper then flesh.
Ill stick with the tried and true rounds that have been around my whole life. Good luck...
I ended up getting a threaded 25-06 barrel. It shoots 115 gr berger vlds freaking sweet!Have you thought at all about 280ai? That's where my brain immediately goes for a '06 family cartridge.

Nice, I just found a box of those on my bench a couple days ago. I no longer have anything in .257. I actually have a fair amount of 25-06 stuff. Pm me if you have any interest. I'll cut you a sweet deal.I ended up getting a threaded 25-06 barrel. It shoots 115 gr berger vlds freaking sweet!
