Have a 22” stick T3 Lite barrel, 30-06, that I’d like to have threads on for suppressor / brake mount.

Am planning to send to UM for the work, but I’ve read so many things on this tips as far as diameter requires, length to cut, adapter or no adapter…

Key Mo brakes in 30 cal can be had in either 1/2x28 or 5/8x24…. I’d like to retain as much barrel length as possible to get velocity…. Im hoping to have 19-20” length, threaded 1/2x28 and run a UM 5/8 adapter?

Anybody do similar? Does that plan hold water or will I need to go shorter?

I cut standard 22” 7mm-08 lite barrel to 18” and threaded 1/2x28. Mounted KGM muzzle device with Rockset and no issues so far with around 100 handloads fired suppressed.

Several ways will work. Getting a shoulder put on and threading 5/8 is proven to work well.

Cut as low as you want (lower the better imo).

Thread to 1/2x28 with adaptor or 5/8x24 with shoulder.

It’s all the same and won’t be a problem.

I still can't figure out why people aren't simply threading Tikkas (or any sporter profile rifle) with a 25* taper and a $15 collar from Sig or Q, you can get them in both 1/2-28 and 5/8-24. Its simple and works great. I have Tikkas in 300wsm, 300wm, and 338-06 done this way, and Savages in 260 and 300wsm.

I know nothing about suppressors and have a Tikka T3 7 MM Mag which I had threaded 1/2 - 28 so I could run a muzzle break. Now, I am thinking just buy a 5/8 - 24 threaded .30 cal. can that will direct thread to my AR 6MM ARC and then get a threaded bushing adaptor so I can run the same can on the 7 MM.

Any insight on that as the suppressor journey keeps sending me down rabbit holes!

This is why I use taper mounts. I have multiple guns with all kinds of different threadings, so I get the thread that matches the barrel on one end, and the taper mount always matches my cans on the other.

Yes, adding a thread adapter is common practice. I'd have no concerns and probably just rockset the adapter on.
