Consensus on 156 Berger’s?

Any experience on bigger game with these?

I am looking to try them on a moose for my wife this year. We will probably only be pushing them 2500 mv out of her short 6.5 creedmoor but she is only a 300 yard shooter right now.

What velocity window are these working best at? Bull moose can end up a bit wider than deer my hope are the lower velocity may aid with a deeper penetration and an exit with good damage in the vitals.

I will have some big moose pills to back her up in case it goes awry. Also first time we will ever hunt with a berger and I've always been a skeptic.
I can’t imagine you’ll have any issues, and that lower MV should aid in a deeper wound channel like you alluded to

That is my hopes. A passthrough on a moose will be a lot to ask for. I think it will go well and may change my ideals on some of rifles. Worst comes to worst I will have a 300 gr 338 heading it's way quickly after.

The 156 will kill it no problem, but they are big animals that need to lose a lot of blood pressure to die. Don't steal her thunder if it isn't going anywhere too thick. It'll die.

I used the 156 last year on a bull moose

Shot was @ 80 yards quartering toward me Bullet entered the front shoulder and stopped just in front for the opposite side rear quarter

Bull ran 15 yards and tipped over very happy with the performance

Good to hear. Close performance was a concern glad to hear it performed so good.

What velocity were you pushing it?

So I picked up a box of the 156 today. Some of the tips looked “clogged” but then I realized idk what I’m looking at.

What constitutes a clogged tip and what does it look like? Also what are the methods of cleaning it up?

I saw the tip uniformer but not springing for a 150$ tool right now.
